What’s a girl to do about web hosting?

As a recent MLIS graduate, I figure it’s about time to obtain some of my own server space instead of continuing to use my school account. After perusing the web and receiving a good tip, the chosen host is Siteground. So far, I’m most pleased as Siteground seems to have comprehensible tutorials and fast support. The price plan for two years is a pretty good deal, at least for the amount of space they allow customers to use. I’ve got so much space that I’m thinking about installing every new tool known to humankind (or at least a few of them), just to play a bit. As you can probably tell, I started with a WordPress install (I used Filezilla to upload my new WordPress theme).  I’m also quite keen on my new domain name which is factored into the price.  Soon when you go to laurabaas.com, you might actually see something.

Life as an MSLIS graduate

It’s been an exciting post-graduating summer what with attending my very first ALA convention in Washington D.C., applying for jobs, and moving out of my apartment in IL and all. Currently, I’m working on getting caught up on my reading (all ages, all genres tends to take quite a bit of time) and honing my techie skills.  And then there’s the whole applying for jobs thing…
