Super Tuesday
posted in book lists, miscellany, children's literature |
It’s Super Tuesday (see Wikipedia: Super Tuesday). No, that doesn’t mean we’re having a Giants/Patriots Super Sunday re-match. It means 24 states are heading to the polls, and fates (or at least the beginning of fates) will be decided. In Keeping Tabs on Super Tuesday, the Read/Write Web has compiled a highly useful list of resources that will minimize the effort involved in keeping up with today’s results as well as with the election process for the whole year.
Tying this in to youth literature, I found a couple of useful election-related booklists:
- Allen County Public Library Elections Booklist: contains a great deal of non-fiction, some fiction, and some website recommendations
- Harris County Public Library Elections Booklist: separated by Grade level; provides an image of each book recommended
A few recently published works of fiction that speak to the election process include:
- Clifford for President by Acton Figueroa, Norman Bridwell, and Tom LaPadula (Picture Book)
- Duck for President by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin (Picture Book)
- The Election Day Disaster by Ron Roy and Timothy Bush (Capital Mysteries Series #10)
- First Boy by Gary D Schmidt
- The Kid Who Ran for President by Dan Gutman
- Max for President by Jarrett Krosoczka (Picture Book)
- Vote 4 Amelia by Marissa Moss (Amelia’s Notebook Series)
- Vote for Katie Suzanne by Nancy E Krulik; John & Wendy
- Vote for Larry by Janet Tashjian
- The Wolfman, the Shrink, and the Eighth Grade Election by D M Nigro
